Complete kit to start a NMEA-2000 network system for boats with Suzuki outboards installations.
This kit offers an easy solution to interface all brands of NMEA-2000 compatible MFD's (Multi Function Displays) to Suzuki outboard engines. A special Suzuki interface adapter is used to convert the electronic signals from the engine into a NMEA-2000 compliant signal. The interface is compatible with Suzuki engines made in 2008 or later.
The interface adapter connection can be made either at the engine or at the end of the wiring harness at the helm. When made at the helm end of the standard wiring harness, existing engine alarm lights are no longer available. The type of Suzuki engine needs to be specified at time of order so that the adapter can be programmed.
Helm Connection
The standard Suzuki wiring loom has a 4-pin connector that is used to connect to the standard analogue tachometer engine warning lights. This connector can also be used to alternately connect the Suzuki NMEA-2000 engine interface when the appropriate wiring change is made under the engine cowl.
The benefit of this system is that the wiring is somewhat easier however unless a Lowrance display is used, the functionality of the warning light system is lost. As a minimum, it is recommended that the engine alarm system is not dependent on electronic instruments.
Engine Connection
In this case the Suzuki NMEA-2000 Interface is connected at the engine end under the cowl. It plugs into the engine communications port via an adapter cable. The standard Suzuki warning light system is left in tact however in the case that the installation does not use the standard Suzuki tachometers, our kit provides an alternate engine alarm panel to fit at the helm.
