Wireless Man Overboard Monitoring and Engine Cut-Off for Marine Safety

The Garmin OnBoard™ System adds wireless man overboard monitoring to compatible marine installations, allowing the captain, passengers, children, pets or important equipment to be monitored using wearable MOB tags. Integration with compatible Garmin chartplotters enables tag status and settings to be managed from the helm, while an MOB event can generate audible alerts and mark the location on the chartplotter. If a tag assigned to the captain triggers an MOB event, the system can also activate the vessel’s engine cut-off circuit. Up to eight captain and passenger tags can be monitored simultaneously.

Key Features

  • Wireless MOB Monitoring: Wearable MOB tags provide continuous wireless monitoring without requiring the user to remain physically tethered to a conventional kill switch.
  • Automatic Engine Cut-Off: An MOB event involving the tag assigned to the captain can activate the vessel’s engine cut-off circuit.
  • Up to Eight MOB Tags: Supports simultaneous monitoring of up to eight captain and passenger tags.
  • Captain and Passenger Profiles: Individual tags can be assigned as captain or passenger to determine the appropriate response when an MOB event occurs.
  • Automatic MOB Waypoint: Marks the MOB location on a compatible Garmin chartplotter when the system detects that a monitored tag has disconnected.
  • Audible MOB Alerts: Generates an audible warning to alert those remaining aboard when an MOB event is detected.
  • Chartplotter Integration: View tag battery level, wireless signal strength and protection status through a compatible Garmin multifunction display.
  • Centralised Tag Management: Arm, disarm and configure connected MOB tags directly through the compatible Garmin chartplotter.
  • Marine Engine Integration: Connects with compatible engine cut-off systems for inboard, outboard and sterndrive applications.

Wireless tags give people aboard greater freedom of movement while maintaining active MOB monitoring throughout the vessel. Integration with compatible Garmin marine electronics brings MOB alerts, position information and engine cut-off control together at the helm.
