Victron Multiplus

Victron 5 year warrantyAdvanced Programmable Battery Charger
The Multiplus battery charger features adaptive four-stage charging. Battery life is improved with the adaptive algorithm which reduces charging when the battery system is only lightly used. Charge profiles are selectable for flooded, gel, AGM and lithium batteries as well as custom charge voltages.

Two AC Outputs
The main output has no-break functionality. In the event of a grid failure, or shore or generator power being disconnected, the MultiPlus takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption.

The second output is live only when AC is available on the input of the MultiPlus. Loads that should not discharge the battery, such as air-conditioning or a water heater can be connected to this output.

Unique PowerAssist feature
The PowerAssist feature allows the Multiplus to provide uninterrupted power where other inverter chargers would overload and shut down. When an overload is imminent the battery charging is first reduced. Secondly, the inverter function is used to boost the output from the battery supply. This is particuarly useful for systems with small portable generators.

Integrated Transfer Switch
System complexity is greatly reduced with the integration of a high-speed transfer switch inside the Multiplus. Uninterrupted AC power is provided to the output circuit while the AC input is connected/disconnected. This removes the need for a manual inverter/generator switch or separate inverter only powerpoints.

System Operation - Victron MultiPlus

The Multiplus has a single AC shore power input. When the shore power input is active, power is transferred through the MultiPlus to AC outputs 1 and 2. If no input power is available, the inverter provides power only to ACout1. ACout2 then is reserved for loads that are only powered up from the Shore power input.

Note that when power is available from the inverter, input power sources are completely isolated and an MEN connection is made internally between Neutral and Earth. When shore power is active, the MEN link is inherited from shore power.

If the load demand on the output is greater than what the shore power input can provide, a programmable Power Assist function can borrow power from the inverter to increase the total available power. If a small generator was plugged into the shore power input, this "generator support" capability is ideal for handling higher startup loads that would otherwise stall the generator - for example air conditioning systems.
