This is OSCAR Navigation

Date Posted:26 September 2022

OSCAR navigation system detects floating objects early, using thermal and optical cameras to catch objects that escape conventional systems such as Radar or AIS: unsignalled craft, floating obstacles, buoys, inflatables, kayaks and persons overboard.

OSCAR stands for Optical System for Cognition And Ranging and is the first AI-based system, available for sailing yachts and for motor vessels. OSCAR navigation alerts you of any floating obstacle on your course – large and small – day and night.

The OSCAR systems are designed to detect hazards that cannot be detected by radars, AIS or sonar. As a result, OSCAR prevents collisions with any potential threat a vessel can encounter at sea. Be it other vessels, unidentified floating objects such as logs, buoys or containers, as well as sleeping sea mammals. The system alerts the crew of any potential danger and tracks the position and distance of that threat.

How OSCAR Navigation Works

OSCAR computes input from low light and thermal cameras, using the latest Machine Vision technology, best-in-class deep learning capabilities and a proprietary database of millions of annotated marine objects.

OSCAR OFFSHORE RANGE

OSCAR Offshore Range

Offshore ONE

The starting point for AI-based situational awareness on the water. 3 cameras (1 RGB, 2 thermal) and an AI processing unit, all contained in one single vision unit, mounted at the masthead.

Offshore 320

The same setup as Offshore One but is complemented with a powerful external processing unit. Larger detection angle. Higher detection frequency improves performance in bad sea conditions.

Offshore 640

Same processing power as Offshore 320 but higher resolution thermal cameras. Superior detection performance (longer range, smaller objects). Higher resolution and better e-zoom capabilities.

OSCAR COMPETITION RANGE

OSCAR Competition Range

Competition 320

The OSCAR Competition 320 combines state-of-the-art camera technology with artificial intelligence.

Competition 640

The Competition 640 is the first-class collision avoidance system for the competitive sailing crew.

THE OSCAR SENTRY

Oscar Sentry

SENTRY

The OSCAR SENTRY offers a comprehensive optical and thermal camera setup, complemented with a powerful external processing unit. The longest detection range, widest detection angle and fastest detection frequency improve performance in unfavorable sea conditions. Object tracking and manual panning/tilt support 360o perimeter surveillance both at anchor and underway.
